Hi all,
I’m sharing a few things I’ve asked the Lord during visitations that fall under the category of ‘quantum physics’, continuing today with the question: “How did you walk through the crowds in Luke 4:29-30 and John 8:58-59?”
Setting the context of my understanding
Luke 4 records Jesus in His hometown reading in synagogue from Isaiah 61: 1-2, stopping mid-verse: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the meek, to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord…” and He stopped and sat down, saying ‘This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.’
Let me insert here why He stopped mid-sentence. it is because the whole verse says: “To preach the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God.”
Jesus stopped at ‘the acceptable year of the Lord’ and sat down. The Jews (to this day) didn’t understand their would be two appearances by Messiah – one to pay for sin and one to bring His kingdom to earth as the conquering King. This verse includes both – the acceptable year of the Lord AND the day of vengeance of our God.
What the Father never told anyone is the mystery of the 2 appearing’s, planned from the start yet to us a surprise; that God included the opportunity for Gentiles – non-Jews – to become part of the covenant. Ephesians 3:3-6; “How God made known to me the mystery, the mystery that had been hidden from ages and generations, but is now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets, that the Gentiles should be made fellow heirs…”
“Even the mystery which was kept secret from ages and generations, but is now revealed to His saints, to whom God would make known the riches of His glory in this mystery to the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:26-27
“But now to the power which can establish you in Christ Jesus, a mystery which was kept secret since the world began but is now being revealed to all nations for the obedience of faith…” Romans 16:25-26
This is why Old Testament prophecies seem to go point to point without mention of the church – God had not revealed to any Old Testament prophets that there would be about a 2,000 year season when He would give the Gentiles the opportunity to come into covenant with Him – that only became known at and after Pentecost when all people received the Holy Spirit, children and the aged, men and women, slaves and free, without regard to nation, social, or ethnic group – all are equal in Christ.
But in Luke 4, they didn’t know any of that and much of what Jesus shared with the disciples later about ‘the church’ was lost on them at the time as a result. These last 2,000 years has been largely for the Gentiles, but there will be a time when (we) are removed and God will once again focus on Israel – the last 7 years of the age. Jesus said “Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled*” and Paul said, “Blindness in part has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.”* Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25
Back to Jesus nearly being thrown off a cliff; Luke 4:28-30
Jesus stopped mid-sentence perplexing the audience, and even more when He said Isaiah 61:1-2a had been fulfilled that day! After He made other statements:
“And they in the synagogue, all who heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up and thrust Him out of the city, to a brow of a hill upon which their city was built, that they might throw Him down from there headlong. But He, passing through the midst of them, went His way.”
How did He walk through ‘the midst of them’ and go His way? That’s what I wanted to know.
Jesus going through another crowd: John 8: 58-59
“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you; Before Abraham was, I AM’. And they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple through the midst of them, and so passed by.”
The phrase ‘through the midst of them’ uses ‘meso’ for ‘midst’, in this sense as an adverb describing the action – He walked right through the middle of the crowd in each case. The word ‘hid’ is exactly that – hide or conceal. So I wanted to know how He did each of those disappearing acts. Some would suggest He threw a wrap over His face and pushed His way through, but that doesn’t make sense since He was 1 man against an angry mob intent on murdering Him. Some have supposed He blinded them temporarily or some other supernatural explanation – I wanted to know, so I asked.
The only time He has referred to contemporary culture to explain Himself
“Remember the Matrix and how they moved in a way it seemed bullets flying at them were in slow motion? It was like that. Remember the episode of Star Trek where the crew of the Enterprise heard a buzzing sound, until some of them entered that dimension and found beings moving much faster than normal time, which was making that buzzing sound to the crew of the Enterprise. They were moving so fast that to them, it seemed the crew was almost standing still.”
“Remember, I AM. So all I had to do was speed up near the speed of light, and to me, it seemed like they were moving very slowly, but to them they suddenly couldn’t see me and I walked through their midst.”
Jesus stated several times He was the I AM. As I shared last week, in Matthew 14:27 when walking on the water towards the frightened men: “Be happy! I AM! Now stop being afraid.” Also here in John 8:58, “Before Abraham was; I AM”. And in John 18:5-6 when they came looking for Him and He asked who they were looking for. They responded, “Jesus of Nazareth…and He said to them; ‘I AM!’ And when He said to them, I AM, immediately they moved backwards and fell to the ground.”
In the last case He unleashed enough of His power to let all present know He was going voluntarily to His death, not by force. He is the I AM, the One who spoke to Moses from the burning bush, the Ever-present One.
I can’t explain this with chapter and verse but I believe…
We’ve all seen pictures of atoms, or at least recognize a picture of a nucleus with orbiting smaller particles like electrons and neutrons and protons – we’ve all been to school after all, lol. Somehow molecules – assuming there are spiritual realm molecules (but for lack of a better term) the Lord’s realm seem to move at a faster rate than molecules on earth.
When I was given a tour of heaven one of the most amazing things was the ability of my eyes to examine anything I wanted as close as I wanted. I remember the first thing I looked at was a tree about 1/2 mile away (.8km) and just by willing it I could look closer and closer at a leaf until I was looking with unaided eye at the molecular structure – and could even see the atoms moving and hear the hum. I was so startled I immediately started doing that with everything I saw – trees and each tree of a different kind had a slightly different hum than other trees of other species – yet somehow I knew they were all grouped in the same category of hum – not sure how to explain it better than that.
I looked at grass, flowers, rock, the living water – and it all seemed to be moving at a level higher than earthly molecules move – as a higher level of existence and being.
I think that is the action the Lord was referring to when He said He sped up, close to the speed of light – and it makes me wonder about the same process in transporting the boat half way across the lake, and later how Philip was instantly taken 20 miles or so (32km) to meet up with the Ethiopian official. Paul says it so elegantly in I Corinthians 15:39-54 in part: “All flesh is not the same flesh…there are bodies celestial, and bodies terrestrial….it is sown a natural body, it is raise a spiritual body…as we have born the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly…for corruption must put on incorruption, and mortal must put on immortality…”
I hope this has been a blessing – maybe at a later time I’ll share more, but for now a lot of what I’ve seen and heard remain private – Jesus is amazing! New subject next week, until then, blessings,
John Fenn
